How to Choose: A Series (Part 1)

We know that wedding planning is just a series of choices. The moment you get that fabulous ring on your finger you start getting asked a thousand questions. When’s the wedding? Have you picked a venue? Where are you going on your honeymoon? It can seem daunting on where to begin and how to make the right choices. We’re here to help you! This new series of blogs is to help you get all those questions answered, and with the best choices for your big day!

We’re kicking off Part One with your wedding day attire - but not the clothes themselves. We want you to feel confident in whatever you wear on your wedding day, and that starts with going to the right places to find the best fit. We’ve listed five of our favorite bridal salons to help you choose the best wedding dress for you!

Annalise Bridal Boutique

Opened in 2015, Annalise Bridal Boutique offers only wedding gowns and bridal accessories, which allows them to focus solely on the bride! They offer individual appointments and pre-appointment consultations to ensure your shopping experience is going to be personalized for you and your style. They have couture designer gowns and accessories that are exclusive to Central Virginia, and they focus on making the entire experience fun and memorable for you.

Urban Set Bride

Easily one of the most recognizable staples in Richmond, Urban Set Bride opened in 2014 by a mother-daughter team. They’ve since become one of the highest reviewed bridal shops on the East Coast. They offer designer brands that range from $1500 to $4500 and all of their gowns are made to order. They pride themselves on their ability to really focus on the bride in their private appointments, that take place in their intimate bridal boutique, and allows you to be uninterrupted by other brides. As a Black-owned, Family-owned, and Women-owned boutique (that’s also a LGBTQ+ safe space) we can’t recommend them to our couples enough!

Blue Sage Bridal

Another amazing woman-owned business we love to love on is Blue Sage Bridal. They’re the only consignment and sample bridal boutique in Richmond, which means they don’t own the dresses in their store. They have brand new, sample, and once worn gowns from local brides and bridal shops that bring them in to be resold. Their dresses are priced based on the condition they’re brought in, which makes them much more affordable, and and an easy recommendation for our budget brides.

Caryn’s Bridals, Formals, & Tuxedos

Located in the Heart of Virginia in historic downtown Farmville, Caryn’s has been providing bridal and formalwear for most of Virginia for over three decades. They have a large showroom and even larger selection of gowns and suits, and a private gallery for bridal appointments. They frequently carry the newest designer gowns and consultants offer a one-on-one service to help you make the right choice on your wedding day attire. One extra perk: they also offer in-house alterations, making this a one-stop shop that’s definitely worth the drive!

Tiffany’s Bridal

Tiffany’s Bridal is known as Richmond’s oldest bridal store that’s been serving local brides for over 50 years, and is a family-owned business that offers special-order wedding gowns that range from $850 to $3500. They also offer attire for the rest of the bridal party, including bridesmaid, flower girl, and mother of the bride/groom dresses. Their old-fashioned service and new designer gowns are the perfect combination of “something old and something new!”
